What We Believe

Our church has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message as our confession of faith.  What follows is a very brief summary of what we believe.

We believe the Bible is God’s word and does not contain any errors.  It is the authority by which all opinions are to be tested.

We believe in one God who made everything, who exists as three persons within one divine essence:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all mankind are sinners and that God’s wrath is upon them unless they receive his salvation.

We believe that salvation only comes through trusting in Jesus as Savior and Lord.

We believe that the church is a gathered body of baptized believers.

We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  We do not recognize other so-called baptisms (of infants, or by sprinkling or pouring) as valid.

We believe the Lord’s Supper is a memorial celebration of Jesus.  It is only to be taken by baptized believers.

We believe that Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead.  Those who trusted him in this life will be saved, and those who do not will be damned.  The former will have eternal life in this presence of God.  The latter will be separated from God in the eternal torment of Hell.
